Bridger Foothills Fire near Bozeman forces evacuations

The Bridger Foothills Fire outside of Bozeman, Montana, has forced evacuations of residents in the Bridger Canyon Area.

The fire has grown to just over 7,000 acres after it was reported Friday. The cause of the fire is unknown, according to National Forest officials.

The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office has issued evacuations for Bridger Canyon Road, Jackson Creek and Kelly Canyon.

Residents in the following areas are under evacuation warning:  Moffitt Creek, Quinn Creek, O'Rea Creek, Willow Creek, Fleshman Creek, Stone Creek, Brackett Creek and Skunk Creek. 
 
The 211 Call Center has been set up to aid those affected by the fire and seeking help.  Residents are asked to call 211 for information.

People who have not been evacuated are urged to voluntarily leave the area until it is safe to return.

Bridger Canyon Road from Story Mill Road to Sedan remains closed to non-residents.
