MSU music faculty set Valentine’s Day recital

Montana State University School of Music faculty members will perform a Valentine’s Day recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, in Reynolds Recital Hall.

The recital will feature guitarist Michael Videon, cellist Julia Cory Slovarp and clarinetist Greg Young performing works by Italian composer Niccolo Paganini and Brazillian composers Baden Powell de Aquino and Radames Gnattali.

The first half of the concert will feature Slovarp, Videon and Young playing Paganini’s “Terzetto concertante,” originally written for viola, cello and guitar, with Young playing the viola part on clarinet.

The second half of the program will showcase Brazilian music of the mid-20th century. Videon will play a short set of guitar solos by de Aquino and Gnattali, followed by Gnattali’s three movement “Sonata for Cello and Guitar,” with Slovarp.

Admission is $10 for general admission and $5 for students. Tickets are available at the door.
